Experimentation day in Vaihingen: A day full of culture, movement and innovation

On Saturday, June 15th, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., the northern part of the area of the former freight hall of the AufentHaltestelle Vaihingen will be transformed into a lively meeting place for young and old. The open day offers the perfect opportunity to get to know the diverse offers and projects surrounding the Circuleum and the AufentHaltestelle Vaihingen.

The site on the eastern side of Vaihingen station has been owned by the city of Stuttgart since 2017. In 2019, the "AufentHaltestelle Vaihingen" was included in the network of the International Building Exhibition StadtRegion Stuttgart 2027 (IBA'27) and is intended to build a bridge between the "SynergiePark" and the Vaihingen area under the umbrella term "Vernetzung Vaihingen". A comprehensive participation and planning process with citizens of Vaihingen between 2020 and 2022 led to the gradual development of this temporary place to stay with exercise areas and cultural offerings.

The event begins with a welcome from Mr. Wolf, the district mayor of Vaihingen. Visitors can get an idea of the current developments and take a look behind the scenes at the Circuleum. Afterwards, guests can look forward to a varied stage program that will provide the best entertainment. There will also be an exciting tour during which sustainable project approaches will be presented.

Another highlight is the exhibition on the Vaihingen stopover point. Here, interested parties can find out everything about the project and its development process as well as future plans, such as the innovative usage concept of the Circuleum and the planned Stuttgart 210 circular building. The project by students from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Stuttgart will be particularly impressive: As part of the “Building Construction and Sustainability” module, they are building the “Stuttgart Umbrellas”, creative wooden structures that will provide shade on the site.

The various exercise modules and sports equipment provided by the Office for Sports and Exercise provide sporting variety. The musical supporting program rounds off the day and ensures an atmospheric atmosphere

The Office for Urban Planning and Housing of the City of Stuttgart plays a central role in the development of the site. Through close cooperation with the IBA'27, the Stuttgart Youth Center Society (stjg) and the Kreativhaltig office, the Circuleum project is being implemented as a socio-cultural center for artistry and art, which integrates a wider range of offers via a project office. This commitment ensures the testing and further development of temporary uses on the northern part of the site until the end of 2028.
